Description:
Peyton Clark is looking for a fresh start when she becomes the proud owner of a two-story house in New Orleans’ historic Garden District. But it’s not long before Peyton discovers she’s moved into the haunted home of a flirtatious paranormal prankster, and soon she begins to have vivid dreams, bringing her face-to-face with the incomparably handsome ghost of Drake Montague. When Peyton grows closer to her contractor, Ryan Kelly—who is as charming as he is alive—the chill in the air suggests Drake’s jealousy from beyond the grave. But Peyton can’t get Drake out of her dreams, or her heart, as she begins to uncover the frightening truth behind his death over a century ago…

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed this story. It's a good old fashioned ghost story with a love triangle thrown in. Peyton finds her self drawn to two men. One living and one dead. Drake is the ghost of a policeman that once owned her house almost 100 years ago. I LOVED Drake! He was gorgeous, amorous and demanding (the typical alpha personality that we all love). He was protecting Peyton from the dark entity that has attached itself to her and the house. He would come to her in her dreams to warn her and at the same time flirt with her lol. And the accent! *sighs* The French accent is to die for. :)

Ryan is the other person involved in the triangle and is very much alive. He's her neighbor and a former general contractor that Peyton maneuvers into renovating her house. Ryan was a total sweetheart! He was supportive of Peyton and though she was the target of the dark entity, Ryan had his own inner demons to deal with over the death of his wife.

Peyton has feelings for both men but Ryan has the stronger pull (obviously, he's the one that's alive). But I have to admit that I found myself rooting more for Drake than Ryan. He seemed more like the leading alpha male that you find in PNR these days.

The ending has a twist at the end involving Peyton and Drake which adds up to some hilarious conversations. This is definitely a continuing story, and although the ending is not abrupt, there are questions left unanswered and problems that need to be addressed between Ryan and Peyton.
All in all it was a great read and I will definitely be checking out more of H.P. Mallory's books.
