What can I say about Katie Reus' Darkness series other than WOW! This lady knows how to write some smexy as hell alphas! I can't tell you how much I adore this series, every book gets better and better. Before I am even finished reading one book I'm already excited for the next!
Bran is a dragon (uhh... can we all say yummm..) and the leader of his clan. He has found his mate. Keelin is a princess of another clan and has absolutely no interest in mating. She has recently woken up from a protective hibernation forced upon her by her over protective parents. She has gotten a taste of freedom and has no intention of giving it up, especially to an arrogant, possessive alpha no matter how drool worthy he is.
Keelin is being targeting by some unknown evil and Bran is in a frenzy to protect her while still trying to prove to her that he won't take away her independence. I loved Bran, even though he came off as aloof and over bearing he actually was insecure about his looks. I love when an alpha shows his vulnerabilities as well as his strengths.
Keelin's dragon wants Bran's in the worst way and makes it almost impossible to resist him. I loved watching Keelin's character grow. She was bound and determined to stand up to the whoever was hunting her and Bran was the perfect compliment to her, as much as he wanted to hide her away from danger he also understood that she wanted to be his equal. The chemistry between the two was intense and I loved the side story/romance involving Nyx and Bo (please, please let the next book be about those two).
All in all, another fabulous read by Katie Reus. If you love your PNRs action packed, intense, while still sweet and sexy you are going to want to grab yourself a copy of Beyond The Darkness today!
