Cover Him With Darkness by Janine Ashbless

3.5 STARS!

Cover Him With Darkness is a dark book, much darker than I usually read, but I was excited for the change of pace, and this book didn't disappoint!

Milja's family has a secret. They are the guardians of an ancient prisoner. A fallen angel to be precise. Azazel has been bound and punished for teaching humans how to make weapons and for sleeping with their women. There are a lot of biblical references in regard to God and angels and I found myself being on the side of Azazel instead of God in regards to his punishments. However, I, like Milja felt that the method and length of punishment set for Azazel didn't fit with how we viewed God, a God that is merciful and loving. It's a little unsettling to read about God being the bad guy.

Azazel himself was not an easy hero to like, he was aggressive, pushy and arrogant. The sex was smoking hot but I didn't care for it being in front of an audience. The world building was intense and detailed and the ending sets for future books.

This was definitely an edgy, suspense filled read, if you are a fan of dark PNR and don't mind religious undertones then I would recommend Cover With With Darkness.

* I received a copy from the publisher through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review
