Hunt the Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

5 STARS!

The Guardians of Eternity is one of my all time favorite series so when I saw Hunt the Darkness pop up on NetGalley I jumped at the chance to review it! Being that it is book 11 I would recommend that you read the entire series to get the full effect but it's not required. I somehow accidentally skipped the last book but found that there was enough information in this one to keep me from being lost.

I have to say that I love and I mean LOVE Alexandra Ivy's vampires! They are so deliciously possessive of their mates. They will move heaven or hell to protect them even if that happens to be from themselves. And in Hunt the Darkness, Roke has his hands full trying to keep Sally out of danger.

In the previous book halfbreed witch Sally has cast a spell that unwittingly forced Roke into mating her. In this world the couples know their mates by a mating mark that appears on their arms followed by an intense desire for one another. At first Roke is furious, he doesn't like witches and feels trapped but the mating won't allow him to turn his back on Sally. It compels him to take care of her and keep her safe. Sally manages to press every button that Roke has while they search for her demon father in the hopes that he can help her reverse the mating spell.

Sally is an awesome heroine! She has a fearless, stubborn, spit in the face of death attitude that I adored. She was determined to release Roke from her spell even though she was developing feelings for him. Sally's led a hard life of abuse at the hands of her mother which (broke my heart) made her feel totally alone in the world and expendable.

Roke was possessive, fierce, domineering and determined to protect his mate at any cost. Even though he started out resentful of the mating bond he never once faltered in his duty of taking care of her. No matter how aggravated Sally made him he always treated her as something precious to him. And I loved how he always referred to her as "my love" The emotions that he develops for her remind him that life isn't just about duty and he quickly embraces the idea of Sally as his true mate.

An excellent addition to the Guardians of Eternity series, Hunt the Darkness is a fast pace read with lots of action, romance and the right amount of snarkiness that had me laughing out loud at times. I love the world that the author has created, it's rich in detail and color and I can't wait to read the next installment! I recommend this to anyone who loves PNR with tons of excitement and crazy possessive alphas.

* I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
