Rock Redemption by Nalini Singh

Blurb:

Kit Devigny could have loved rock guitarist Noah St. John. Their friendship burned with the promise of intense passion and searing tenderness…until the night Noah deliberately shattered her heart.

Noah knows he destroyed something precious the night he chose to betray Kit, but he’d rather she hate him than learn his darkest secret. All he has left is his music. It’s his saving grace, but it doesn’t silence the voices that keep him up at night. Chasing oblivion through endless one-night-stands, he earns a few hours’ sleep and his bad boy reputation.

When a media error sees Noah and Kit dubbed the new “it” couple, Kit discovers her chance at the role of a lifetime hinges on riding the media wave. Wanting—needing—to give Kit this, even if he can’t give her everything, Noah agrees to play the adoring boyfriend. Only the illusion is suddenly too real, too painful, too beautiful…and it may be too late for the redemption of Noah St. John.

My Review: 5 STARS!!

Wow, Wow, WOW! Nalini has upped the emotional ante on Rock Redemption! After reading the previous book, Rock Hard, I didn't think that I would love another hero as much as I love and adore Gabriel Bishop (Rock Hard) but I have to say, Noah is definitely a close second for the position of my book husband! Maybe I should have them wrestle naked in some oil to decide? LOL

I started this book with the intention of hating Noah for what he had done to Kit. But the more I learned about his past the more my heart broke. He had a horrible devastating thing happen to him as a child that has totally destroyed his self worth. He feels worthless and tainted and is tormented by nightmares from his past. He self medicates with an endless parade of one night stands, unable to connect emotionally with anyone until Kit. She is the one. As their friendship deepens so does his feelings for her. He feels totally unworthy of her and in a desperate move to push her away he does something incredibly stupid... and beyond hurtful. Noah realizes that he screwed up big time. He loves Kit and misses her terribly. And even though he knows that she's better off without him, he needs her and will do anything to regain her friendship.

Kit loves Noah but after his betrayal she's done with him. Between trying to land a new roll that will propel her status into an A-list actress and dealing with a stalker that is getting more and more bold she doesn't know if she can ever forgive Noah. I adored Kit. She had her heart broke by Noah but she wasn't whiny or clingy. She left the situation and attempted to move on with her life. And even though Noah is back in her life and she still loves him, she is not about to give him an all access pass to her heart again.

This was a really intense read. It's a story of forgiveness and as the title says, redemption. It's a slow build of emotion and I think because of that it makes their relationship that much more solid. Noah's issues don't just disappear because Kit lets him back into her life and that is what makes this story so much more real. Noah still has nightmares and still messes up but the trust they build over time slowly helps ease some of his trauma. Kit has an amazing amount of strength as a character and she was just what Noah needed to heal. I also really loved Noah's depth, despite his trauma and his major screw ups, he seriously LOVED Kit and wanted to do what was right by her. He didn't always make the best choices but he did them with the misguided intention of protecting Kit. This was a fantastic addition to the Rock Kiss Series.
