Lure of the Jaguar by N.J. Walters

Blurb:

Hades has one last trick up his sleeve...and this cat is running out of lives.

The curse that imprisoned the Lady of the Beasts’ warriors is broken. Their mates are safe from Hades, but not their human friends. As the only unmated warrior, Stavros retreats to the Louisiana bayou. Better to be alone than put anyone else in danger.

Then he senses a presence in his woods. It’s a woman stalking wildlife with her camera, a woman who has unwittingly put herself on Hades’ radar—for she is Stavros’ mate.

Wildlife photographer Toni Richards doesn’t need any man to be her hero. But when three suspicious men try to kidnap her, she’s shocked when the rare jaguar she’s been tracking leaps to her rescue—then morphs into a man. An incredibly sexy man with a jaguar tattoo snarling across his back.

Despite his better judgment, Stavros can’t keep his distance, even though he knows that when the time comes, much will have to be sacrificed to foil Hades’ plans. Stavros prays Toni will forgive him for what he must do to protect her soul.

Warning: A shapeshifting warrior, an intrepid photographer, and a vengeful god generate enough heat in the bayou to send the entire state up in flames.

My Review: 4 Stars!

Lure of the Jaguar is the final installment in the Hades Carnival series. This has been one of my absolute favorite series and I'm sad to see it come to an end. But first off let me address something very important. The cover! Holy Sh*t!!! I am beyond freaking in love with this cover! The eyes on Stavros are so FREAKING SEXY..... it's just *RAWR*

Okay, now that I've got that out of my system, lets get on to my review. As much as I loved the cover I have to admit that this was my least favorite of the series. Now don't get me wrong, I still very much enjoyed it and it is a solid 4 star read for me. N.J. Walter's has and always will be one of my go-to authors for a guaranteed great read because I know she can deliver!

Stavros is the last of the warriors to find his mate. After seeing what his friends went through with their mates and the danger that Hades put them through, he has decided that he is going to hide out in the bayou so he doesn't accidentally run into his mate and make her a target of Hades.

Toni is a wildlife photographer and used to being on her own. She's independent and fearless and when she is attacked by three men at the cabin she is shocked to see the jaguar that she has been trying to photograph leap to her rescue.

Stavros is drawn to Toni, as he follows her during her treks into the bayou he knows that it's dangerous to be near her just in case Hades is watching but he can't help himself. When he sees her being attacked his protective instincts take over and he knows he has to protect his mate.

The chemistry between Stavros and Toni is hot but my heart broke when Stavros did what he had to do to protect Toni from Hades knowing that she didn't feel the same for him. I don't want to spoil it for you so I won't go into further detail. And despite the fact that Hades does find out about Toni and dispatches some minions to capture her there isn't a lot of conflict in this book as there was in the others, and here's where I have a tiny little gripe. Hades. I was ecstatic at his outcome (it's what I was hoping for since the last few books) but.... it seemed to happen too quickly. I reeeeally wanted/hoped for something a bit more detailed, maybe another book, because sometimes I love the villains as much as the heroes and Hades was seriously starting to grow on me. But that being said it was still a great read and I will forever recommend this series!
