Zack (Cold Fury, Book 3) by Sawyer Bennett

Blurb:

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett goes for a hat trick with the latest romance in a sexy series about cool-as-ice hockey players and the women heating up their lives.

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

My Review: 5 Stars!!

Wow, what an emotional and heart wrenching read! Zack is recovering from injuries sustained from a tragic car accident that also took the life of his long time girlfriend, Gina. Needless to say Zack is suffering from some serious survivors guilt as well as some other emotional issues and regrets regarding his feelings for Gina. It's time for him to get back to playing hockey and with his sister needing to get back home, Zack needs a nanny for his young son, Ben. I adored how much Zack loved Ben! There is nothing more swoon worthy than seeing how much a man loves his child.

Kate is a quirky, smart and a bit geeky. She and Ben bond immediately and their relationShe is immediately drawn to Zack but he keeps her at arms length and is almost resentful of his growing feelings for her. I have to say that Kate has got to be one of the most sympathetic and selfless heroines ever. Her patience, forgiveness and love for Zack as he yo-yo's back and forth with his feelings for her amazed me.

This was a wonderful story of love and forgiveness and as frustrated as I was with Zack's treatment of Kate at times I thoroughly enjoyed it. Zack was a solid 5 stars for me and I highly recommend it if you enjoy yummy athletes, spunky heroines and emotion charged books. I can't wait for the next one and I have no doubt that Sawyer Bennett will knock it out of the park with Ryker's story.
