Hmmmm..... Where to start. Well first off, let me say how much I adore Mandy Roth, I think she is a phenomenal author and while I usually love her books (some more than others) The Valkyrie fell short for me. I'm not sure what it was exactly, the story moves quickly and there is a lot of action, but at times it was confusing. Maybe it was because Valerie had amnesia and didn't know what was going on which in turn means the reader was confused as well. The first two thirds of the book did keep me engaged though, yes I was confused, but I was desperate to learn more about Valerie and her past. But then the last part of the book is where I was left scratching my head, there was too many characters added, too much happening in a short amount of time, way too many men in love with her, and then an ending with no resolution. I do realize that this is the beginning of a series and I'm sure that the later books will wrap up all the loose ends and unanswered questions that the reader may have. And despite the fact that this book wasn't for me I will still continue to read and recommend Mandy's books.
