OMG What can I say? Another stellar story from my absolute favorite author Gena Showalter! Temptation in Shadows was previously released in The Bodyguard anthology and is novella length at 83 pages. And in no way did I feel that the story was rushed which happens sometimes in these shorter books. It was a quick, steamy, thrilling read full of yumminess that I thoroughly enjoyed.
The storyline flowed smoothly and even though it was only short book I still felt and more importantly believed in the love that grew between Sean and Gabby. As usual Gena is the queen of writing dark alpha heroes and Sean was no exception! Sean can control shadows, I mean literally call them to him and wrap them around himself. He feels at one with them and because of that he believes that he can never be with one woman for long because the shadows would eventually drive her mad.
Gabby has a secret talent of her own. I won't spoil it for you but let's just say she can be a very dangerous person to have around. I just adore Gena's heroines! Gabby was a kick ass girl that absolutely could take care of herself. No wilting flower here people. Because of the life that she has lead Gabby is naturally distrustful of people and although she was tough, she still had her vulnerabilities. And the snark... What can I say? What's a Gena Showalter book without her snarky heroines? LOL Yep, reason # 5987 why I love Gena's books so much. I always know at some point that I am going to be cackling like a crazy woman and Temptation in Shadows did not disappoint. :)
I really loved the world that Gena has built in this book, and even though I don't believe it's in the works, I truly hope that at some point she revisits this storyline. I would love to see a book about Sean's friend Rowan, he sounds delish! :) I heartily recommend this to anyone who loves their PNR with a bit of intrigue.
